tomorrow!

It's almost the big day, and we are READY to welcome our Dragons back onto campus tomorrow morning! I'm so sorry that I missed reconnecting with everyone at Thunder Night! My husband ended up having an emergency appendectomy that day. Everything went well, and he's doing great, but it did put a little kink in my plans;)
A few things to help you be ready for tomorrow-
Arrival
- All gates open at 8:25. Students and families may enter through the walking gate on Ritchie Rd. or by the front office. Staff will be in front of the school and on the playground with class lists, so if your child isn't sure where to go, we can help!
- Students are expected to be in class, ready to learn by 8:40. The tardy bell rings at 8:37, so please have students to school before that.
- Parents are welcome to walk their students on to campus, but we ask that you leave when the 8:37 tardy bell rings.
- The staff parking lot in front of the office is our drop off zone; please do not park there, it is for cars who are dropping their students off and driving through.
- If you'd like to park, please use the street or the lower parking lot, near the tennis courts.
- You can expect there to be a lot of traffic the first few days, so please be patient and courteous!
- TK/K students dismiss in front of the school at 1:35. You may park and meet your student on/near the lawn, or you may drive through the lower parking lot to pick them up.
- 1st-6th grade students dismiss at 3:00. 1st-3rd graders dismiss to the front area; 4th-6th graders have the option to dismiss on Ritchie Rd and get picked up there or walk to the front to meet siblings. We find that splitting the dismissal areas makes it less busy out front. Please arrange with your 4th-6th grader which gate they will leave from, and where you will pick them up/how they should get home.
- I am attaching the message I sent out in the spring regarding combination classes. We are EXCITED to be going this route; please watch the video for more information!
Some time in the next few days, please carve out about 6 minutes to watch this video and learn more about next year's class formations. We have an idea that might seem a bit wild at first, but we think will be a GREAT fit for Grover Heights! Our goal is to create balanced classes and allow for true teacher collaboration, which in turn, will create the necessary conditions for stronger student achievement.
If you have any questions, or want to talk further about this, please reach out to the office to schedule an appointment (805-474-3700).
I can't wait to see everyone tomorrow! Sleep well tonight😁
