Principal's Message

Located in Grover Beach along California's beautiful Central Coast, Grover Heights includes a diverse population of students, teachers, parents, volunteers, and support staff.  We currently have just over 300 students enrolled at Grover Heights, and we are proud to be a neighborhood school, meaning that students all live close by.  This aspect of Grover Heights fosters a true community feel; Grover Heights is simply an amazing place to be.

During the 2020-21 school year, Grover Heights began the journey of planning for and implementing a schoolwide Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS).  We have since successfully implemented Tier I (schoolwide) and Tier II (more student-specific) interventions.  We are particularly proud of the work we have done with teaching Grover Heights students to ROAR with 4 main behavioral expectations:  Responsible, On-Task, Accepting, and Respectful.  These expectations are reinforced regularly and students have developed ownership over their behaviors.  Students who need additional support are able to receive it.  Ask any student on campus and they can tell you what it means to ROAR!  This past Fall Grover Heights was awarded the Gold Award from the PBIS Coalition for our Tier I and Tier II implementation efforts.  This award validates the work we have done to address communication and behavioral issues through teaching and acknowledging our behavioral expectations.  We are currently focused on planning for and implementing Tier III, which includes more intensive interventions designed to support specific students, in addition to the Tier I and II supports.     

Grover Heights is a wonderful place to be!  As our mission states, we commit to engage, challenge, and inspire ALL students to be lifelong learners who strive to achieve their full potential.  We are fortunate that we have a strong support system with our PTA, parent volunteers, and various community organizations.  Grover Heights is excited to be a community of collaborative lifelong learners who are:  motivated to learn, supported, challenged, and prepared to achieve personal goals.  The quality of education provided at Grover Heights is evidenced by high student growth and achievement and a continued record of improvement.  We pledge to build upon the tradition of excellence that Grover Heights has grown to expect, and that our students deserve.
