Library Media Center

The mission of Grover Heights Elementary School Library is to foster a love of reading while encouraging students to be life-long learners by providing quality literature and resources in a welcoming and nurturing environment.

Library Procedures: Grades TK - 1st can check out one book at a time, Grades 2nd - 6th can check out two books at a time.  Students do not have to wait for their designated class library time to exchange books, they can come in anytime the library is open.  We do not charge late fees, however, lost or damaged books will need to be paid for or replaced by another hardcover book by the same title.
Thank you :-)

Summer Reading 2024

Read wildly with us this summer at the SLO County Library!

Summer Reading is June 8 - August 10.
Stop by your favorite library to borrow books you love and to pick up your quail-riffic Summer Reading gear.
Summer Reading is for all ages and abilities.

Read what you want, when you want, where you want.
Anything goes! Track and rate at least three of your titles on a fun, vintage-inspired library book card to earn a prize.
Claim your prizes by August 10.

Celebrate books and reading with us.
Prize wheels, Quail Quests, and free special events and activities are waiting for you at our libraries. Be sure to check our events calendar to see what’s happening at our libraries in June, July, and August.

Let’s make some memories this summer!

More about Summer Reading

Do audiobooks count towards Summer Reading?

They sure do! So do cookbooks, short books, long books, picturebooks, poetry books, easy books, hard books…

How do I win one of those book bags?

Kids read (or are read to) until their Read & Rate card is full. Teens and adults read and rate three books.
We hope you’ll fill that bag with books every time you visit us!

Are there other prizes for reading?

Yes! Kids are invited to spin our prize wheels for every three books they finish.
Adult and teen readers should let us know if they keep reading and rating after three books—we’ve got more library swag to give away!

What is the Quail Quest?

Quail Quest is a bonus activity card: Try to visit any (or all) of our libraries at least 14 times this summer. Then, try to find Quincy the Library quail—he’s hiding in the library.

Finishing the Quail Quest card is optional, but there is a special thank you gift for our first 500 finishers.

I’m out of town this summer. Can I still participate?

Download and print the Read & Rate card to follow along. Visit us by August 10 to claim your prizes.

*Prizes available while supplies last.
